There's nothing more exciting for me than discovering something you own has WAY more functions and buttons and knobs and doo-dabbies that you can play with. 'Specially when you think you've found them all. This is how I've been with my laptop since I got it. There's always something else fab it can do that I never knew - always more to learn. So this weekend I spent learning how to use iTunes (thanks woogie). Although I can't link to Apple's official iTunes store and download stuff just yet (you bastards who exclude SA!), I can customize and organise the files that have been, till now, clogging up my filing and making me afraid to even open my music folder. Who knew it was so easy!So I've been loading my discs onto my laptop, categorising, creating playlists and - my favourite - adding album art. For someone like me who loves CD sleeves and inlays this is a real bonus.
I am once again über proud of my little iBook and it's magic tricks. And plenty nay-sayers there may be, but Steve Jobs - I like how you think.

Ooh, your own mac, you lucky be-atch! iPhoto is the exact same concept as iTunes. Plug in camera, download pics, they get filed in your photo folder, and you can make photo albums of your different photos. And you can set an album to be a screensaver in your Sys Prefs. I have Joaquin Phoenix. Yum.
But if i already have the pics on my mac, is it going to duplicate them when I add to iPhoto library? This is my issue - I can't see if it's just being an interface - like iTunes - or if it's reloading and actually storing them :oS
apple shmack! think of an apple and all its accessories as a one-way lifetime sentence for all your precious information. everything is driven by rights and run through dreadfully restrictive proprietary software which attempts to 'own' your data as its own. blech.

Yes, once you drag them into iPhoto they will be duplicated and filed, so you can keep them in the original place, or back them up and trash them.
iTunes does the same, if you have a folder of songs on your desktop and open them in iTunes, the are immediately added to your music library. Trash the files on your desktop, mmkay? If you check your music folder, you'll see how nicely it files everything too - if your songs are named, which is easypeasy if you are online.
